Riya looks interesting if it really delivers on it’s promise. I’ve been using Flickr a lot and I have discovered that it can be a pain to really tag the hell out of a photo. Riya hopes to make the process simpler by using face and object recognition to auto tag. That will help for tagging objects in a picture, but you’ll still have to enter meta-tags like places, times, and event names. I guess GPS encoding could help there eventually.
BTW, I’m really glad that I went through the trouble of setting up Flock. When I first heard of Flock, I didnt see how it could be anything special. It sure is cool to be able to blog right inside the browser, though. I also like being able to easily include my pictures from flickr in here. Like this one of me wearing breast feeding equipment:
